Where does the name 1609 Marketing come from?

We get this question a lot! The name 1609 comes from the year a study about bees revealed something pretty cool—that bee colonies are actually run by a queen, not a king. As a woman-owned agency, that discovery really resonates with us.

But it’s more than just the queen bee connection. What we love about honeybees is how the whole hive works together. Every bee has a role, they adapt when they need to, and they’re all working toward the same goal. That’s exactly how our team operates.

We’re not a one-person show or a top-down hierarchy. Our best work happens when everyone—strategists, designers, writers, digital specialists—collaborates and brings their unique strengths to the table. Just like a hive, we’re stronger together.

How long has 1609 Marketing been in business?

1609 Marketing officially launched in October 2024. Our founder, Amy Rose, owned an agency with a partner starting in 2016, but after parting ways with her business partner (and ex), she decided to start fresh and build something of her own.

So while Amy has nearly 30 years of marketing experience (she’s been in the industry since 1999) and nearly a decade as an agency owner, 1609 Marketing is her fresh start—built on decades of expertise but with a vision that’s 100% hers.

Pricing and Packages

What does it cost to hire 1609?

Honest answer? It depends on what you need.

We have packages for things like local SEO, social media management, website management and hosting, and other ongoing services. But the truth is, some services need to be priced after we have a discussion about what your brand needs and what you are looking for.

Websites, for example, vary wildly in price depending on complexity, how many pages you need, integrations with other tools, and what functionality you’re looking for. A five-page site with a contact form is a totally different project than a 30-page site with e-commerce and custom features.

Same goes for branding and creative work. The scope depends on what options you want and what outputs you need. But here’s what we can tell you: we’re fair, we’re honest, and we want everyone to walk away happy.

If you’re serious about working with 1609, we need to have a real conversation before we can give you an accurate quote—because cookie-cutter pricing leads to cookie-cutter work, and that’s not what we do.

Do you have contracts?

Yes, we do—and it’s for everyone’s protection, not just ours.

A contract makes sure we’re all on the same page about what we’re delivering, what you’re paying, and what success looks like. It protects you from scope creep and protects us from misunderstandings down the road. Everyone knows what to expect.

That said, all of our contracts have a 30-day out clause. If you’re not happy, we don’t want you to feel stuck. And honestly, if we’re not happy, we should have an out too. We believe in building real partnerships, and those don’t work when someone feels trapped.

Kind of, but not in a formal “free consultation” way.
